Since the establishment of the college, Political Science has been taught by the name ‘Civics’ by faculty in the Department of History to the Pre-Degree students. The department of Political Science was established in 1974 as a subsidiary subject to both Economics and History. Since then, teachers of Political Science started teaching the students of Pre-Degree and Degree batches. As such, two teachers handled the whole working hours of Political-Science. Later, when the Department of English started functioning, Political Science became the subsidiary for Literature students also. When Pre-Degree was de-linked from the colleges in the late 1990s the working hours got reduced considerably. Now the Department continues its service as a subsidiary subject for B.A Economics, B.A History and B.A English Literature, with one permanent faculty.
VISION To build the capacity for academic excellence in all students To inculcate moral, social, economic and political values among students To develop Political Science as a learning discipline among students
