CAREER GUIDANCE CELL

  • The Career Guidance Cell functioning in the College aims to provide students guidance in competitive exams, options in higher education, and placement.
  • The Cell attempts to create awareness about career options among students and introduces them to options and avenues of fulfillment that would facilitate their growth and development and also help them meet the challenges and knowledge explosion of the 21st century. It also tries to empower women graduates through a proper utilisation of the emerging trends, choices and opportunities available in their respective fields of study. Campus interviews, spot counselling for further studies and seminars are regular features of the cell.
  • The Cell conducts Campus recruitment trainings with the help of experts from outside in different modules like Communication skills, Aptitude skills, Numerical skills, Logical reasoning, Target orientation streaming and Personal interview.

ACTIVITIES OF THE CELL

  • On 29th September 2015, the Career Guidance Cell organised a Job Readiness Workshop, in association with Happy Valley B-School, Coimbatore. The classes were handled by Dr.Sampat Kumar, Head of Finance of the same institute.
  • On 7th October 2015, in association with Insurance Institute of India, the Career Guidance Cell organised a National Seminar on “Actuarial Profession: An Overview”. The Chief Guest of the Seminar was Mr.S.Chidambaram, Consulting Actuary,Trivandrum.

 

  •  On 7th October 2015,  Mr.Ashok Manikoth, Retd. Senior Divisional Manager, Goa, delivered a talk on “Courses and Syllabus of Insurance Institute of India”.
  •  Mr.Vijayachandran, Secretary, Calicut Insurance Institute, spoke on “Insurance Institute of India and Calicut Insurance institute”.

  • On November 5th 2015, in association with Malabar Aviation Institute, the Career Guidance Cell organised a seminar on “Soft Skill Development”.
  • On November 6th 2015, in association with TIME Calicut, the Career Guidance Cell organised a class on “Scope of Management Education and its Procedures” for Commerce and BBA students.
  • Final year Degree students were also given a class on “How to Face Interviews”, by IBS School, Bangalore.
  • Guiders Academy, Cochin organised a career orientation class on “How to Build up our Future” on Dec 4th 2015.

On Dec 10, 2015, the Career Guidance Cell, in association with Azim Premji University, organised a Seminar on “Courses at Azim Premji University”
  • On 11 Dec, 2015, Civil Service Orientation class was given to I DC students by Mr.Nimshid, Director, Ensign IAS Academy & Civil Service Study Group.

On Dec 12th 2015, the Career Guidance Cell, in association with Endusar Inc. conducted the Malabar Mega Job Fair, “Niyoga 2015”. More than 50 companies participated in the event and around 500 candidates got selected.

2016-2017

On 19th January, 2016 students participated in the “Eduexpo” conducted by Microtech Events. Providence Women’s College secured the title “Best College in Calicut”. Students secured first position in the event “Panchatantra” with maximum 500 points.

On 4th February, 2016 students participated in the 20th Annual Convention Meet of Calicut Management Association. The topic for discussion was “ Branding Outbound”.

  • On 3rd July, 2016 a discussion was held with the GGG-Genius Group Global for finalising the requirements for the post of Research Analyst.
  • On 18th August, 2016 a recruitment drive was conducted by GGG-Genius Group Global- UK based Company, Calicut. 5 students got placed as Research Analysts for building E-learning software.
  • On 25th August, 2016 a grooming session was conducted by “HAPPY VALLEY BUSINESS SCHOOL, COIMBATORE” for BBA/TT/B.com students on the topic “How to Face an Interview”. The session was lead by Mr.Sampath, Assistant Professor, Happy Valley.
  • On 11th November, 2016 the Institute of Cost Accountants of India conducted a training program for BBA final year students .The session was lead by Mr.Sujeesh, Faculty ICAC.  ICAC conducts one year diploma course on cost accounting.

  • On 25th November, 2016 Institute of Cost Accountants of India conducted a training program for second year B.Com students. The session was lead by Mr.Sujeesh, Faculty ICAC. ICAC conducts one year diploma course on cost accounting.
  • On 26th November, 2016 NIYOGA II- South India’s Mega job fair- was conducted at Providence Women’s College, in association with Enduser Inc .

  • On 30th November, 2016 a seminar was organised to create awareness on “Intellectual Property Rights” for UG and PG students. Dr.Law Wellman, Assistant professor Govt. Law College Calicut spoke on the occasion.
  • On 30th November, 2016 a seminar was conducted by Keltron –IT Education Centre on the topic “Cyber Security” for UG and PG students of the Department of Computer Science. “World Cyber Security Day” was also observed by the Department of Computer Science on November 30th.

  • On 5th December, 2016 a grooming session was conducted for BBA/TT/B.com students by Edvise, a Cochin based Institute on the topic “Study Abroad”.The session was lead by Mr.Nidhesh and Ms.Yashoda. They engaged sessions on admission procedure, Visa and accommodation at various foreign countries.
